About Me

Hi, I’m Aaron (A.J.) Byerley, I was born and raised in Kendallville and graduated from East Noble High School. My wife Kelli and I have been blessed to raise four beautiful children; we have been able to watch them grow into great young adults.  I have also had the opportunity to spend most of my adult life coaching them in multiple sports, not only focusing on winning but also being great teammates and strong young men and women! When I am not coaching sports, I am a Sales Manager at Nucor Building Systems where I have worked for 26 years.  As a manager at Nucor, I lead with courage, I am fiscally responsible and take care of my team.

I believe these leadership traits are a requirement of a strong School Board member. Our children need leaders that will have the courage to stand up for what is right even when society is telling us we are wrong. They deserve leaders that are going to protect them while they are in school and extra curriculars as well as provide classes that challenge and prepare the children of our community to become the best they can be!

Christ

As a Born-again Christian, I put Christ at the center of my life. I know I am not perfect, but I continue to grow each day. The Lord calls us to serve others in verse Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as ransom for many.”  I am excited about this opportunity for me to serve the community that I love and see it thrive.

Children

While growing up in this community, many people had a hand in molding me to become the person I am today.  This led me to enjoy coaching the youth of our community for over 18 years in various different roles from YMCA athletics to Titans travel baseball and currently getting ready to assist with the EN high school baseball team.  I look at the School Board position as an opportunity for me to give back to the community. Our children are the future of this country and with everything we are experiencing today we need them to be the best they can to put it back on track!

Community

I truly believe that this community is very influential in the growth of our children.  Whether it is through youth sports, community events, local hangouts or youth group they all help to shape our children. Our school system is a foundational piece that helps build and grow a strong community.  We need to strengthen our curriculum and expectations for our students to get back to a solid foundation.
